From Recent Issue of our Quarterly: Soldier's Prayer (1865)
2.22.06...Glad to have your visit. Enjoy the recent article shared first in The Panola Story our quarterly which is mailed four times each year. Check the PanGens Connection page on this website for information about your addition to our mailing list, please. Now, the recent article:
This poem, written anonymously, by a Civil War(some note Confederate,/editors) soldier, speaks of the struggles that come when we try to override God’s will for us with our own desires and needs. As war lingers on in Iraq, we reach back to Veterans of Panola County,2000 for a word of ........ PRAYER by an Unknown Soldier I asked God for strength that I might achieve, I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey; I asked for health that I might do greater things, I was given infirmity that I might do better things; I asked for riches That I might be happy, I was given poverty that I might be wise; I asked for power that I might have the praise of men, I was given weakness that I might feel the need for God; I asked for all things that I might enjoy life, I was given life that I might enjoy all things; I got nothing that I asked for—but everything I had hoped for, Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered, I am, among all men, most richly blessed. ..........Via: Ramona Smith..........
